1915

Phillips Steel is founded as a metal scrap and recycling facility.

1933

Magnitude 6.4 earthquake devastates Long Beach and surrounding areas, with 120 fatalities; Phillips Steel remains open.

 

1935

Phillips Steel moves to current location on West Anaheim Street in Long Beach.

 

1960

Phillips Steel transitions from recycling to producing new materials for customers.

 

1967

Phillips Steel provides materials and services for the conversion of the Queen Mary cruise ship into a luxury hotel by the City of Long Beach.

 

1985

Daryl Phillips is named CEO of Phillips Steel.

1995

Phillips Steels provides materials and services for the near-life size replica of the Titanic exterior, built and filmed for the iconic 1997 James Cameron-directed film.

1998

Phillips Steel opens industrial tool and safety products division.

2000

Phillips Steel officially adopts alloy as its mascot.

2005

Phillips Steel begins offering custom steel fabrication services.

2013

Phillips Steel expands fabrication services by opening a dedicated shop location in Long Beach and earns certified license for structural fabrication from City of Los Angeles.

2015

Phillips Steel celebrates 100 years of continuous operation.

2017

Phillips Steel expands and relocates fabrication services to a new 40,000 square-foot facility.

2018

Phillips Steel provides materials and services for the completion of SoFi Stadium, the state-of-the-art home of the LA Rams in nearby Inglewood.

2019

Fourth generation family member, Sara Phillips Brown, becomes president of Phillips Steel.

2021

Phillips Steel provides materials and services for the renovation of the Vincent Thomas Bridge, a 1,500-foot suspension bridge crossing Los Angeles Harbor.

Phillips Steel proudly employs 40 people that live local and support Long Beach and the surrounding communities.
